The Risk Analyst position available serves as the primary support to intermediate and senior management in the provision of lender insurance advisory and due diligence services to commercial banking clients. Candidates must have a good understanding of the commercial insurance market, with strong technical insurance knowledge.  

The analyst will have the following responsibilities:

  • Act as key support to INTECH consultants involved in the commercial banking and commercial mortgage industry;
  • Review client instructions and contractual insurance requirements;
  • Identify risk exposures inherent in a commercial transaction and design additional insurance requirements to address the exposures;
  • Review and negotiate insurance and indemnity provisions in contracts, including leases, construction contracts and other material agreements on behalf of clients;
  • Review evidence of insurance and compare coverage with contractual insurance requirements (e.g. loan agreements, lease agreements, construction contracts, etc.);
  • Critique evidence of insurance and report findings INTECH consultants (requires ability to identify and comprehend issues);
  • Correspond with insurance brokers to ensure satisfactory evidence of insurance is received;
  • Understand and advise clients on the purpose of each requirement and the impact on their business if a requirement is not met;
  • Establish and maintain relationships with clients in order to retain and attract business;
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share expertise and improve client service;

EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-3 years of insurance industry experience;
  • Bachelor’s Degree;
  • RIBO Certification; considered an asset
  • Working towards CRM, CAIB or CIP designation (or equivalent designation from USA or UK);
  • Good working knowledge of commercial property and casualty related insurance, including business interruption, builders risk and wrap-up liability;
  • General knowledge of Automobile liability, Environmental Liability, D&O, E&O, Surety, considered an asset
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills
  • Experience reviewing insurance and indemnity provisions in contracts (e.g. loan agreements, construction contracts, leases, etc.)
